Hospital satellite expands

Memorial Hospital of Union County’s satellite office, the Urgent Care in Coleman’s Crossing, has expanded its hours to meet the needs of the people. People who are overcome with pains, colds, the flu or who need immediate medical attention for sudden injuries visit the Urgent Care in Marysville.
The expansion comes in an effort to improve service provided to the hundreds of patients seen each week.
As of Feb. 14, the hours are 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays. This provides an eight-hour service day, which seems more normal to customers and is more appealing to employees. It helps when planning the regular workday.
The facility is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekends.
Since its opening last fall, the on-the-spot facility located at 1140 Charles Lane, adjacent to the Union County Family YMCA, has seen a considerable number of patients. They seemed to be waiting for the appropriate time to take advantage of the services being offered at the facility.
“ It seemed that most days we had a line at the door before our opening time. We think it may be due to the fact that on weekdays, those who needed our services were coming to the facility near 4 p.m.,” comments Andy Priday, director of the Urgent Care at Memorial Hospital.
The rush of patients created longer-than-needed wait times for patients.
“ By opening a few hours earlier each weekday, we hope to spread out that initial rush and provide care on a more timely basis,” said Priday.
The Urgent Care has general radiology services available with over-reads provided by the same radiologists who serve Memorial Hospital. An Electronic Medical Record System is utilized to improve documentation and enhance HIPAA compliance. Standard lab services are also available on-site. Patients who visit Memorial’s Urgent Care provide insurance information upon registration and billing is handled by the facility. Unlike hospital services, patients receive one bill for their entire visit.
Owned by Memorial Hospital, Urgent Care is managed by Immediate Health Associates (IHA). Physician staffing is provided by Premier Health Care Services and IHA.
“ The Urgent Care by Memorial Hospital of Union County has proven to be a terrific resource to the communities we serve. People are interested in quality and convenience. Our patients have been pleased with both,” commented Priday.
